Sommelier of the Grand House
Why did you choose a career in wine?
Having graduated in hotel management and food production, I gradually realized that wine combines the best of both worlds and that customer have a better experience when their meal is harmonized with the "ideal" wine. That's why I chose this aspect, because I have the opportunity to highlight even more the talent of those who work inside a kitchen and can show the importance of our service standards for the customer experience when visiting a restaurant.
Portugal has many, very good wines. If you were to recommend just one, which one would it be?
It is difficult to choose only one good Portuguese wine. Portugal is very rich in wine culture. For serious wine lovers it’s an exciting country to navigate as the wine is usually made from grape varieties that aren’t really found anywhere else in the world. This is the most fascinating part. I couldn't help but choose a wine that will take me home to my Alentejo and to all the magic I feel when being there. So if I had to choose just a white wine I would recommend Dona Maria Amantis, if I had to recommend a red wine, it would be Herdade do Mouchão Tonel 3-4.
The Grand Universe is full of magic. What do you personally like best about the Grand House?
What I like most about the Grand House is its familiar and welcoming concept, without losing its refinement. We are pleased to be able to make our guests' stay a unique and unforgettable experience. It is nice to see how they get to know us a little better every day and it satisfies me when our guests feel special, cared for and at home.
