HOW WE END THE YEAR IN GRAND STYLE
Looking back at 1920 and comparing it to 2020, we can’t help but notice how much life has changed between the two. While we had hoped that we could draw parallels between the Roaring Twenties and now, things went in a completely different direction. The year 1920 was a year of economic growth and widespread prosperity, exuberant joie de vivre, dancing and intoxication. This past year was full of untraversed territory and unknown experiences. From the panic buying of toilet paper and sanitizers, to being separated from friends and family for months on end, the new standards of social distancing, cities going into lockdown, global quarantines, border closings, public service announcements and posters plastered on city walls instructing us how to wash our hands, hugs and handshakes replaced by elbow-bump greetings, takeaway cocktails, to finally, Zoom parties, no one could have predicted what a difficult and unforgettable year this would be.
The road travelled this year has certainly been a challenge. One thing we think we can all agree on is that whether looking back at 1920 or 2020, they can both be summed up as truly “wild.” But, as time marches forward, the year is almost finished and now it’s time to not just reflect on past events but look to the future for a new year that’s about to begin. We hope to enter 2021 with a renewed sense of enthusiasm, positivity, determination and above all, faith.
