Vis a Vis With Flamingos

Surrounding Vila Real de Santo António and Castro Marim, the the Reserva Natural do Sapal is a 2,000 hectare marshland. This unique ecological habitat is best known for the flamingos which stop off here to feed. However, it is also home to many other species of animal and plants. There are literally hundreds of other species of birds here including storks, avocets and spoonbills, some of which are residents all year round.

An easy morning or afternoon hike which would allow you to enjoy the beautiful sunset … Just walk out of Vila Real de Santo António and find yourself in the middle of the beautiful Nature Reserve “Reserva Natural do Sapal de Castro Marim e Vila Real do San Antonio”. If you’re still up for it, make a detour to Castro Marim and visit the castle. You can either walk back or call us to arrange a transfer.
