We endeavored to envision what our Grand Dame would have been like—her thoughts, emotions, values, and appearance—serving as the inspiration for the revival of the Grand House.

Now, following the opening of our Grand House, we are frequently asked about our Grand Style. We designed our Grand House to resemble a stately residence rather than a typical hotel. Every detail was meticulously planned to evoke the opulence of a grand family home.

Ideias Of Enlightenment

Vila Real de Santo António was strongly influenced by the Enlightenment—an era when human reasoning was employed to enhance the lives of mankind. The Enlightenment espoused ideals such as knowledge, freedom, and happiness, viewing reason, progress, tolerance, equality, human dignity, and freedom of belief as enduring values that remain relevant today. Truly Grand ideals, wouldn’t you agree?

Eclectic Look

The Grand Design is all about boundless expression—vibrant and charismatic, sophisticated yet unpretentious, at times bold and at others subdued, but always exuding a sense of class befitting a Grand Dame. The interior design of Grand House embodies an eclectic style reminiscent of the 1920s, blending elements of Art Nouveau and Classical Composition with a Colonial touch.

White & Kaki

White and Kaki were the creative masterminds behind the Grand Interior, and we couldn’t have chosen better collaborators. Their projects have graced every corner of Europe, enhancing private homes, showrooms, offices, restaurants, and charming hotels. At Grand House, this Portuguese interior design duo celebrated the beauty of eclecticism.

The light-flooded interior seamlessly blends playful Art Deco elements with the stately Portuguese colonial style, infused with influences from both the Western and Oriental worlds—reflecting the heritage of seafaring peoples. Many of the chandeliers are precious discoveries from years of travel, complemented by antique Chinese vases, a 1920s Asian screen, and exquisite fabrics from Louis Vuitton. The result is a timeless atmosphere of comfort that harmoniously bridges past and present, inspiring us to collect memories along the way.

Indeed, luxury is one of the most overused labels.
So what is the meaning of true luxury?

For us, it’s a combination of authenticity, simplicity and soul. We embrace this trio as the guardian of a certain personal touch, a hospitality style that we find essential and is currently in risk of becoming lost. At Grand House, there’s no room for pretension or stuffiness, just genuine hospitality.
