Climb the impressive stone staircase that greets you at the entrance and you’ll find a Roaring Twenties vibe, both nautical and colonial, but a little bit ‘gentleman’s club’ – and also a little bit Casablanca.

The food at the Grand Salon represents an interpretation of Portuguese gastronomic heritage. Our Grand Cuisine emphasizes careful ingredient selection and reducing overproduction, supporting local agriculture and promoting efficient cooking methods.

‘Less is more’ is a conscious decision of our kitchen team. We are pleased to offer a small but exquisite selection of dishes, with everything prepared freshly using local and mostly seasonal ingredients.

Moreover, ‘less is not only more, but also better.’ Embracing a smaller menu allows us to contribute happily to a more sustainable and waste-conscious food system.

Remaining loyal to a sustainable cuisine is one of the Grand Salons promises, so there is a thoughtful approach to how the food we eat plays a role in protecting Mother Earth. The kitchen team partners with regional producers which is reflected in the “superior quality” of everything served at the Grand Salon table. There’s bread from a bakery in Vila Real de Santo António, meat from a top butcher in Manta Rota, olive oil, fruit and vegetables from Moncarapacho, organic tomatoes from Tavira, fine flor de sal from Castro Marim, creamy curd cheese from São Brás de Alportel.

Grand Conservaria

Grand House (Hotel Guadiana) was founded by the the pioneers of the Portuguese fish trade and the oldest canned food company in the world. Honouring the sea and the tradition of canned seafood, the culinary team of the Grand House has elaborated a tapas menu with selected dishes using exclusively canned fish and seafood. Serving delicacies of such as sardines, tuna or mackerels right out of the can, topped with some olive oil, chopped coriander, lemons, almonds… you will be surprised. Mondays at our rooftop terrace.
