Becoming more Sustainable

As you know, we like to think of our house as a Grand Dame. Elegant, timeless, a woman of the world, eloquent, free-spirited, and devoted to the finer things in life. But even if she puts her feet in fabulous shoes, her footprint should not leave any long-term traces. At least ecologically.

As a member of Relais & Châteaux, we have committed ourselves to special values and principles. Remaining loyal to a sustainable lifestyle is one of our promises. We are aware that Tourism will never be completely sustainable as every industry has impacts, but it can work towards becoming more sustainable.

We are once again proud of the country we call home. As in many other areas, Portugal is setting an example, this time by encouraging positive tourism. Portugal has enacted a law that obliges companies in the tourism sector to implement measures to manage their water, energy and waste recycling consumption by 2027.
